OK… It was a great speech…

… and even though the Republicans didn’t rise and applaud as frequently as the Democrats, Obama effectively involved both sides.

His proposal will be talked about on the news for the next couple of days (Ed Schulz is starting to discuss it in the next hour), and it will be really clear that if the really far right wingnuts push the Death Panels, the problems for senior citizens, or any of the other crap they have been pushing they will be doing so at the expense of their political future.

BTW… the man I thought who looked the most pleased with Obama’s speech was John McCain. Imagine!

Watching Louisiana Republican Representative Charles Boustany (who is a heart surgeon) give the Republican response was, to me, and I hope to most, was a great disappointment. It’s like he didn’t listen to Obama at all. If this is the real Republican response, then there is a really poor chance that the Repubs will come in on this.

Keith Olbermann points out that:

1. Boustany has been sued for malpractice three times

2. is a Birther

3. Apparently attempted to buy the British title of “Lord” some time ago (he was being conned, it seems.

… and this is who the Repubs picked to make their point.

  1. It was an excellent speech! I love how Obama never muffs a line; he’s as good as Martin Luther King when he becomes noticeably passionate about something he believes in.

I was delighted to see John McCain appear to be so happy with the speech – I think this will be helpful to Obama as well.

Yes, that idiot that gave the Republican ‘rebuttal’ – what a moron, and the one shouting out ‘lie’ made me angry, but Obama just kept his composure and kept pressing forward.

I’m glad he’s at the helm.
