Bill Tchakirides is in Hospice Care

I am updating this page with some sad news. It is very difficult and I do not like putting this on a public social media page – it seems disrespectful – however I know there are of friends of his who will look at this and this is the only way to share the updates with them.We also cannot get into his email so there may be friends that he was emailing who we cannot reach  and we do not have anyway to email them for him.

Bill has been in hospice care for several weeks now. An additional tumor was found and so he was unable to continue the treatments for the brain tumor.

He is sleeping well most of the time. He is eating very little and drinking very little. His daughter Penny and I are keeping him comfortable and pain free. Hospice services are a wonderful thing and they are truly wonderful compassionate people to work with at Washington County Hospice.

  1. Thank you for the update about Bill, I’m sure it’s not easy to think of us during this difficult time. I will continue to hold you all in a positive light for healing and peace. Lisa

  2. Ellie & Penny, so sorry for your difficult walk at this time. I’ve so enjoyed Bill’s vast variety of posts thru the months, there weren’t many topics he didn’t touch upon. My sincere sympathy. R. G.

  3. Thanks for updating us on Bill’s situation. We are sorry for the way things have turned. We miss very much his voice in the blogging community and we are glad to know he is resting comfortably. Please tell him we are wishing him the best of all possible outcomes.

  4. I have to add – with a big heart as well

  5. Hey Bill – your posts never offered a reason to make a comment like this but what I love about Lobsterscope is – besides your ornery warnings on what you will and will not post, warning readers they’ll get chucked on the spam list if they get boorish and what happens to spammers and unpaid advertising crap — you’ve not only offered a political town hall but you always rushed to cover the big news – i mean the same stuff i could be getting on CNN (if I watched it) or other big outlets ,,, you covered. At first i used to think “why does he bother?” then i realized you’re just an old time, small town editor — cranky, committed and determined to get the news out no matter what your circulation is. Great job.

  8. My and many others thoughts and prayers are with Bill and his family and friends.
