Last 3 Weeks to order Web Poppers at $39.95

… then I am going back to it’s original purchase price of $75.00.

But since I really need help supporting this Blog (and the weekly Podcast that goes with it) I’ll keep the sale price on until August 27th…

So I’m selling the basic set of my Web Poppers, a collection of small images, averaging 72 x 72 pixels, that are based on Bill’s picture font designs and other sources. They can be used to illustrate posts or to comment on any number of issues. You’ve seen me use them frequently on this blog – I hate posts without pictures!

Each set is delivered on CD with 300 of the most popular JPEG images that I use in my own blogs, Under The LobsterScope and Panhandle Vegan. I have been getting great responses to these for the past year and the number of requests that I release them has been substantial.

So here they are.

The complete set originally cost $75.00, but for the next three weeks they are going for $39.95, all taxes and shipping included. Every set that is sold helps support this blog… and believe me, we need it.

I’m Packaging 300 of my Web Poppers which I will make available next week…

Several of my readers have asked me where I get the little 72 x 72 pixel images I put in some of my posts…especially the ones I use to describe events in my own life. I call these little guys Web Poppers and they are all quality JPEG images that are easily placed onto blog posts (in WordPress I just use the “add an image” button at Upload/Insert).

For 25 years I have been developing picture fonts (many of you have purchased one or more of the monthly promotions over in the next column that I use to fund this blog) and have built up thousands of images over the years. Some are abstract decorations, some are food oriented, many are people doing activities…and more. As I have perfected some of these and converted them to small JPEGs, I have been finding all kinds of ways to use them (such as I am doing on this post.)

Next week I will be releasing a CD with 300 of the best of these images, the ones I use the most, which I will be selling for $39.95, which includes shipping and sales tax. There are no limitations on how you may use them… I would hope, however, that you don’t sell them to someone else, but send them your friends to me. The funds I receive from this offer will help keep Under The LobsterScope going into the future.

Look for the release ad next week.

NBC’s temper tantrum over leaked video exposes the network’s thin skin

Seems that NBC has fired an employee for posting a viral “Today” show video… 16 years ago!

This from Salon:

clipped from www.salon.com
Katie Couric and Bryant Gumbel were just two of many people who didn’t understand the World Wide Web back in 1994. We know because of a video circulating across that once ill-defined Internet, showing the two — then hosts of the “Today” show — struggling with the complexities of the technology. Gumbel pondered its function (“What, do you write to it like mail?”). Couric turned to an expert, a producer offscreen (“Can you explain what Internet is?”). Neither of them had any idea what the hell that weird letter-A thing was (“@”).
The clip caught fire yesterday. Then suddenly the original poster took it down from YouTube (though others would later repost it). Turns out the guy who originally posted the video was an NBC employee. The network promptly fired him.

LET’S MAKE A JOYFUL NOISE… MY LITTLE WHITE MAC LAPTOP IS BACK!

I’m sitting in my car outside of Innovative Incorporated over near Hagerstown where Jeremy has just finished fixing my jammed CD drive. If any of you folks live around this area, you know Mac shops are few and far between and Jeremy’s company is an Authorized Reseller of Macs and has a very reasonable repair pricing structure. I’m glad I found him and I recommend him highly.

You’ll also know I’m back on my own machine because the little Web Poppers, the 72 x 72 pixel graphic icons I drop into my personal posts, are back. They were all on this machine and I hadn’t made a copy set for any other computer (it would have been extremely slow to take them off previous articles and not worth the time bringing them over.) I’m going to burn a CD with them all for future use (and may offer the package for sale at some time, if there is interest. They are all based on the dozen or so picture fonts that I sell.)

So now I have all my e-mail, my blog and my operating life back and you’ve never seen a happier guy.
