The Supreme Court is one of the best reasons to re-elect Obama:

Given the fact that probably three Supreme Court justices will retire in the next presidential term, we should think about who the elected leader of the country will nominate to fill the jobs. Right now there is a small tip toward conservative thinking on the SCOTUS, but if Romney is elected the right wing could end up in complete control.

Here’s something to think about:

This, in itself, is one of the best reasons not to vote for Mittens. It would be important to preserve a court that upholds civil rights, women’s rights, diversity in college admissions and support of health care legislation. Should we lose these, the United States goes back to where it was in the first half of the last century and years of development and reform will get flushed down the drain.

It’s up to us to preserve years of important reform.

How the Southern GOP sees Women…

From Tengrain over at Mock, Paper Scissors:

Meet Georgia’s state Rep. Terry England, who is debating Georgia House Bill 954, which would ban abortions after 20 weeks even if the baby is not expected to live. So naturally England recalled the time he had spent with livestock.

Rep. Terry England compares women to cows, pigs and chickens. from Bryan Long on Vimeo.

It’s what I was saying yesterday about the advanced education levels of conservatives in the south. They’re just not there.

I’m not sure why women would ever vote for a southern conservative (unless her husband told her to… 🙂 )

An important message from NARAL

Please look at this and respond… It’s time to get serious about Women’s Rights and protecting Planned Parenthood.

Tell “Fox & Friends” to Issue a Correction
“Fox & Friends” found itself on the wrong side of a smear campaign against Planned Parenthood.

In an attempt to disparage Planned Parenthood, one of the hosts of “Fox & Friends” suggested that women who need Pap smears and breast

Walgreens

What? No Breast Exams at Walgreens?

exams could just get them at Walgreens. Huh?

In fact, Walgreens issued a statement clarifying that its stores do not, in fact, offer such services… but “Fox & Friends” hasn’t retracted the lie.

Call on “Fox & Friends” to issue a correction and stop its irresponsible and inaccurate reporting.

Got it?  It’s time to make people realize the truth… and Fox & Friends is a good starting point.

And this shows me that the World may just be headed in the right direction…

…it is one plus out of many minuses, but it got my hopes up today… I picked this up in Salon:

Japanese female pitcher joins men’s team in U.S.

18-year-old Eri Yoshida, the first woman to play pro baseball in Japan, will join the Chico Outlaws this Spring

A female knuckleball pitcher from Japan will be playing for a minor league team in the United States.

Eri Yoshida, an 18-year-old pitcher who played pro ball in Japan last year, signed with the Chico Outlaws of the Golden Baseball League. The team said she will report to spring training next month.

“I am grateful for this opportunity to pitch for the Chico Outlaws,” Yoshida said. “This is a dream come true for me and I hope I can contribute to the team and help them win and also to continue to improve as a pro baseball player.”

Yoshida will be the first female to pitch for a pro team in the United States since Ila Borders retired more than 10 years ago, the team said.

The 5-foot, 114-pound Yoshida became Japan’s first female pro baseball player last year when she pitched for the Kobe Cruise 9 in the Kansai Independent League.
