New White House Press Secretary Announced.

Jay Carney, who is currently Vice President Biden’s Communications Director, has just been appointed to the White House Press Secretary Position, replacing Robert Gibbs.

This from the Daily Beast on “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”…

I guess they picked it up from HuffPo last week.
Hope Harry Reid has his act together and this goes through tout suite:

Reid: Senate Will Vote on DADT
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid vowed Wednesday to bring a repeal of the military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t

Tell” legislation to the Senate floor sometime in December. In a statement, Reid said the pending defense authorization bill – which contains language ending the ban on openly gay servicemembers – has the White House’s support. White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs also said Wednesday that the repeal is a “priority,” but that President Barack Obama has not lobbied any senators for support. Sen. Joseph Lieberman (I-CT), who usually caucuses with Democrats but is considered a swing voter on this issue, is expected to hold a press conference Thursday morning with Senate Democrats to “show broad support” for the repeal.

Larry Summers Will Be leaving The White House…

IT’S ABOUT TIME!

This clip from HuffPo:

Lawrence Summers, the White House’s top economic adviser, will leave at the end of the year and return to his position as a professor at Harvard University, according to a statement released by the White House today. (The news was first reported by Hans Nichols of Bloomberg News.)

Earlier today, amid rumors of their departure, White House Spokesman Robert Gibbs said that President Obama is “enormously pleased” with the performance of Summers and Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner, Reuters reported.

To fend off claims of being anti-business, the Obama administration may replace Summers, who serves as the director of the president’s National Economic Council, with a top corporate executive, Bloomberg reports.

In April, Joshua Green of The Atlantic also predicted Summers would depart sometime close to the midterm elections.

Grayson: If I wanted Fox talking points I’d change the channel to Fox, not listen to the White House…

Alan Grayson on Robert Gibbs: He should be fired.

And a very good comment on the Gibbs comments…

…and the attitude of the Prez.

This from Mad Kane:

Open Limerick To Robert Gibbs and President Obama
By Madeleine Begun Kane

Mr. Gibbs is thin-skinned, it appears.
From the left, he wants only big cheers.
But lefties just seek
A Dem Prez who ain’t weak.
White House courage is deep in arrears.

This verse is for Robert Gibbs’ boss.
Ignoring the left is your loss.
And a loss for the nation.
Our former elation
Is gone with your liberal gloss.

I think Gibbs should tread a much safer route…

Rep. Keith Ellison called for the resignation of White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs after he said the “professional left” would only be satisfied with the Obama administration after “we have Canadian healthcare and we’ve eliminated the Pentagon.”

In an interview with The Hill, Gibbs vented further: “I hear these people saying he’s like George Bush. Those people ought to be drug tested.” On people who said that President Obama was too centrist, he said, “They wouldn’t be satisfied if Dennis Kucinich was president.”
Rep. Ellison told The Huffington Post, “This is not the first time that Mr. Gibbs has made untoward and inflammatory comments and I certainly hope that people in the White House don’t share his view that the left is unimportant to the presiden. I understand him having some loyalty to the president who employs him, but I think he’s walking over the line.”
Ellison said that Gibbs’ resignation was warranted. “That’d be fair, because this isn’t the first time.

I must be a member of the “professional left”… and, as such, it looks like the Obama Administration is moving to ward the Republicans on the right… and not the folks that elected him.
I have to admit, though… it WOULD be nice to have Canadian Healthcare and the Pentagon sure spends money on wars we don’t need.

You gotta see this…

Ed Schulz was speaking at the Blue State Bash in Minnesota, and he really let the Obama administration have it… especially Press Secretary Robert Gibbs. After contending with Gibbs twice on the air last week, Ed had words with him off the air that he reported to the Minnesota crowd:

“I told him he was full of sh*t is what I told him. I mean I did. And then he gave me the Dick Cheney f-bomb the same way Senator Leahy got it on the Senate floor.”

“I told Robert Gibbs, I said ‘And I’m sorry you’re swearing at me, but I’m just trying to help you out. I’m telling you you’re losing your base. Do you understand that you’re losing your base?'”

You can listen to Ed here:

So…is there anything worse than an angry liberal? I sure hope not. Someone has got to make it clear to Gibbs and the rest that they are losing the base. You go, Ed!
