Blog Archives

Last month was a very good one for donations to Under the LobsterScope…

… and I’d like to keep it up for June, if you will give me your much appreciated support. Back when I was an employed guy, the cost of spending time and money on the blog was very easy for me. As a “semi-retired” (read: unemployed thanks to the current economy) guy, just keeping the space going requires careful budgeting.

So I’m asking you to donate at least $5.00 to Under the LobsterScope, and if you do you get Bill’s Universal Symbols (worth $29.95) for FREE.

That’s it. $5.00 or more and I will send you this font (partial sample below) which is not available ANYWHERE ELSE (except, of course, on my UTF Type Foundry site.).

Since 2004 I have been bringing you Under The LobsterScope totally free-of-charge and have avoided advertising or “blog begging” or any of the other methods of scavenging that blog writers are prone to. Unfortunately, this has had to change…just a little… to keep this information for progressives, liberals and others coming.

Even a small donation of $1 or $2 helps (although $5 helps a whole lot more.) The amount is up to you. We accept contributions through PayPal and the credit/debit cards shown below.

All contributors of $5.00 or more receive a copy of my Picture Font, Bill’s Universal Symbols (I send you the versions for both Macs and PCs, plus a handy keyboard chart). As I said, I regularly sell this font for $29.95.

This offer is for a very limited time. Come July, Bill’s Universal Symbols comes off the Free list.

I appreciate those of you who have come on board over the last few days and hope more will join in. And for those of you $5 Plus donors who received our last two Free Fonts, Bill’s Cast O’Characters and Bill’s Century Marks, you know what a good deal this is.

So please click on the “Donate” button below:

Thanks,
Bill T.

(PS… my sincere thanks to Christine Jackman who made a contribution larger than the minimum and said she didn’t need the font. I could sure use more readers like that.)

Only 6 Days Left…

…to get Bill’s Cast O’Characters Font (worth $29.95) for Free when you support Under The LobsterScope with a donation of $5.00 or more.

I need your help, folks.

Even a small donation of $1 or $2 would help (although $5 helps a whole lot more.) The amount is up to you. We accept contributions through PayPal and the credit/debit cards shown below.

All contributors of $5.00 or more receive a copy of my Picture Font, Bill’s Cast O’ Characters (I send you the True Type versions for both Macs and PCs). As I said, I regularly sell this font for $29.95.

On March 1st the offer for this font will be over (I’ll be putting up another one) and Cast O’Characters will go back to its For Sale Price only.

I appreciate those of you who have come on board over the last few days and hope more will join in. And for those of you $5 Plus donors, I hope you are enjoying Bill’s Cast O’Characters. I know it is a picture font I use all the time.

A Reward for the Supporters of Under The LobsterScope

So many of you have been following this blog since 2004 that I feel like a member of a huge web community.

I have enjoyed bringing you The Cartoon or Cartoons of the Week (this week’s pair on the recent Supreme Court decision are particularly poignant), the Quotes, the Political and Arts News, the Blogrolls to the best sites in America and beyond… They are all a joy to put together. Often we get the breaking political stories before you see them anywhere else. And our wide open communication channels with readers can’t be beat.

Well, I need YOUR help to keep it going. I’m hoping you will make a small contribution, by PayPal or credit/debit card,  in support of Under The LobsterScope. You’d be amazed at how much $5.00 can do to help me bring more and more to these pages. And it is probably the LOWEST annual subscription fee you will make to any publication… interactive or not.

And for a contribution of $5.00 or more you will receive a copy of my Picture Font, Bill’s Cast O’ Characters (I send you the True Type versions for both Macs and PCs by email). I regularly sell this font for $29.95. Sample Below:

You should know, however, that even a contribution of $1.00 adds to the ability of this unemployed blogger to find things for your benefit. By clicking on the DONATE button below, you tell me that Under The LobsterScope makes a difference in your time on the web.

Thanks,

– Bill T.

Important Update on Haiti Donations

The other day I listed the Yele Haiti Foundation founded by Wyclef Jean. That Foundation has been discontinued for not very pleasant reasons. I found this on The Raw Story:

Wyclef’s Skipping Records
Star’s charity repeatedly dissolved after failing to file reports

JANUARY 15–Musician Wyclef Jean’s charitable foundation–now the recipient of many donations big and small in the wake of the Haiti earthquake–has repeatedly had its corporate status dissolved for failing to file required state disclosure reports, records show. As seen below, the Florida Division of Corporations has, on four separate occasions over the past five years, sanctioned the Yele Haiti Foundation (the charity was incorporated in Florida in 1998 as the Wyclef Jean Foundation, but formally changed its name two months ago). The longest involuntarily dissolution lasted 26 months, ending in November 2008 when Jean’s organization provided Florida officials with overdue annual reports disclosing the identities of the group’s officers and directors, its registered agent, and office address. The foundation’s most recent dissolution occurred in September 2009, but was vacated a month later when the 37-year-old Jean’s group filed its disclosure report. As TSG reported yesterday, the Jean foundation’s records delinquency extended to the filing of its tax returns–and could make a prospective donor question whether the organizationally challenged foundation is a wise choice for disaster relief contributions. In August 2009, the group filed overdue tax returns for 2005, 2006, and 2007, documents showing that Jean and fellow board member Jerry Duplessis paid themselves at least $410,000 for services provided to the foundation. Duplessis, a bass player who has toured with Jean, co-owns a New York City recording studio with the performer, as well as a Haiti-based production company.

My apologies, of course.

Help Me Keep Under The LobsterScope Alive…

As I said earlier today, one of the resolutions I’m making for 2010 is to find some financial support for this blog.

Over 128,000 readers have come to this site to find out about progressive and liberal political issues and to investigate happenings in the fine and performing arts. I have loved getting the comments and responding to them and have made a great many friends through Under The LobsterScope since starting it in 2004. I spend hours every day seeking out information and putting up three or four posts for your entertainment and amusement, and I’d like to keep it up.

So I’m hoping you will see your way to making a small contribution, by PayPal or credit/debit card to support Under The LobsterScope. You’d be amazed at how much $5.00 can do to help me bring more and more to these pages.

If you can see your way to sending a dollar or more, please click on the DONATE button below:

Thanks,

– Bill T.
