A laugh for the evening…

… to spite your face.

Thanks for putting it on Facebook, Ruth.

Alan Sues, Laugh-In comedian, is dead at 85…

Having spent much of my younger life watching Rowan and Martin’s Laugh-In, I got used to the short, episode based comedy situations that later exploded into Saturday Night Live. There were so many great people who became famous because of Laugh-In… Jo Ann Worley, Lily Tomlin, Goldie Hawn and others… and some who were well known afterwards and had mildly successful careers.

One of these was Alan Sues, whose effeminate characterizations brought a lightness and comic relativity to Laugh-In was admired by many,

Sues went on to play characters in other TV serials when Laugh-In ended and also performed on Broadway.

He died yesterday at age 85 of a heart attack.

Saturday Morning notes

I’m down at WSHC putting my 11 to 1 o’clock show (Talk To Me) together. I organized the music at home, but now I’m going through news and discussion items and I hope I get call ins, either commenting or complaining – I don’t care, discussing the things I find.

Today is a big day in Shepherdstown… Holiday Parade, Xmas sale at the Men’s Club (now the Community Club) Building, the last Farmers Market of the season and sales all over German Street. Parking is going to be rotten in Shepherdstown if you are coming in, but the Catholiuc Church and Shepherd University, among others, are supplying their parking lots for visitors, so don’t be afraid of coming in.

As we are now in a Holiday mood, I’ve added some appropriate songs to my music list… tune in to WSHC 89.7 FM in Shepherdstown, or online at http://897WSHC.org.
