Bernie Sanders Plans to Vote Against Economic Wimp…

This turned up in HuffPo today. Read the clip then go in for the rest of the post:

A liberal senator plans to vote against confirming President Barack Obama‘s nominee for a top White House economic position.

Sen. Bernie Sanders, an Independent from Vermont who works closely with Democrats, said in a statement obtained by The Huffington Post that he won’t vote to confirm Jacob “Jack” Lew, Obama’s nominee to head the Office of Management and Budget because, after meeting with Lew, the senator “found too many echoes of the failed policies of the past in his responses to my questions on trade policy, Social Security, deregulation of banks and other issues.”

“It is my strong belief that President Obama needs an OMB director who is willing to stand up to corporate America and the wealthy, say enough is enough, and fight for policies that protect the working class in this country,” Sanders said in a statement. “Unfortunately, I do not believe Mr. Lew is the right man at this time for this important job.”

Gloom and Doom…

I am devastated. My car is in the shop again… pretty much for the same reasons that it was a couple of weeks ago. As I was coming back from grocery shopping and a few other things in Martinsburg, my car started to overheat, steam came out from under the hood and I stalled out. I called Brown’s who supposedly had fixed this (for a price equaling most of my Social Security check for last month) and now they are telling me it may be a head gasket which they would not have known about the last time (so they say) and this will be expensive.

On top of this, I can’t get to Full Circle Theater at 5:00 to do the tech rehearsal Malinda wants.  I have left a message on her phone, but she has not gotten back to me.

I’m in the process of calling others at the theater to see if they can pick me up, but so far I haven’t hit on one that wasn’t at work or that could get to the theater by 5:00.

I’m going to have to find a way to get some additional money this month… either sell something or pick up a project or something. If I can get an extra couple of hundred dollars I can probably get through this. I’ll start working on the “income project” tomorrow morning. All this is making my blood sugar go through the roof, despite insulin and Metformin.

Al Franken Speaks On “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”

And chokes up as he does… This was picked up at TPM:

Al is turning into one of the most moving Senators… I hope to hell he doesn’t get corrupted. He’s so good right now.

Is McCain working against the rest of the Nation?

It doesn’t look like he’s listening to his Committee testifiers…

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) seemed like he was about to lose his temper during a press briefing Tuesday after Republicans filibustered the defense appropriations bill over a measure that would have repealed the military‘s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy.

McCain and Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) held a briefing in the Senate press gallery immediately following the vote. McCain grew increasingly obstinate when pressed on the military’s history of actively seeking out gay troops to be dismissed under the policy.

Of course, as ThinkProgress notes, the Senate Armed Services Committee — on which McCain serves as the ranking Republican — heard testimony just this past March from servicemembers who said their sexual orientation was actively investigated, including by searches of their private emails.

I can’t believe it… I left my cell phone in the light booth.

Jeez… I came home last night without my cell phone (or my camera) which are lying on the table next to the dimmer board up in the Full Circle Theater light booth. I must really have been tired… especially after my morning EEG where they had restricted my sleep the night before and kept me off caffeine, plus an extra-long rehearsal where things kept changing.

Today I have to transfer my SS money into Elly’s account so she can pay bills. I’ll do that at the bank after I pick up my phone and camera (and of course after I walk the dogs, which I have to do before I leave the house.) Then I have to get back to the theater later this afternoon for an extra tech rehearsal.

And it’s trash night… I have to put the trash out for the morning pickup. So…let’s get at it. The rest of the week, through a three show weekend and a Friday morning radio show, will be pretty busy.
